- Gut stands for Gastrointestinal Tract -> long tube starts at mouth and ends with anus
- primal function is to break down food that we eat, get the nutrients, get rid of waste
- gut microbiome helps -> wide variety means good gut health
- if not taken care of can lead to digestive problems, mental and physical problems
# What to aim for
- variety over consistency
- 30 different plants a week (all fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds count)
- 30g of fibre per day
- take pobitotic aka fermented stuff (yoghurt, skyr, kombucha)
- 2 portions oily fish per week (long chain omega-3 fatty acids, omega 3 really beneficial)
# What to avoid
- red meat
- processed food
- artificial sugar (e.g. what in diet coke is)
- diet fats and detoxes (not gluten-free diet)
- counting calories
